The PADI Open Water Diver Course consists of three main sections:
Theory:
The first stage is the PADI eLearning section. For your convenience this is done by you at home in your own time, at your own pace.
Content: Theory quick review to check knowledge Practical training: Equipment assembly and care, skin diving techniques, scuba survival skills, self and buddy rescue, underwater resource management, neutral buoyancy, the buddy system and more Equipment Required: Mask, snorkel, booties & fins. What you need to bring: Drinking water and a packed lunch. Location - Gallagher Aquatic Centre, Melville, Hamilton.
Finish - approximately 4PM
Saturday: Open Water
Start: 9AM, at the dive site
Content: Dive planning, assessing conditions, dive logging Practical training: Two open water dives to a maximum of 12 metres Equipment Required: Mask, snorkel, booties & fins. What you need to bring: Drinking water, packed lunch, sun protection, warm, waterproof clothing. Location - Open water location TBC, depending on conditions. Finish: Approximately 3PM
Sunday: Open Water
Start: 9AM, at the dive site
Content: Dive planning, assessing conditions, dive logging, compass navigation Practical training: Two open water dives to a maximum of 18 metres Equipment Required: Mask, snorkel, booties & fins. What you need to bring: Drinking water, packed lunch, sun protection, warm, waterproof clothing. Location - Open water location TBC, depending on conditions Finish: Approximately 3PM
With your dives complete, skills demonstrated and log book filled out you'll be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, ready to dive anywhere in the world!
